Acupuncture for sinusitis near Indian Trail — Damp-Heat in the cavities, not a neti-pot slogan

Acupuncture for sinusitis and sinus pressure near Indian Trail. TCM for Damp-Heat in the nasal cavities, complementary to ENT. Susanna Yeung, L.Ac.

Sinus pressure, colored drainage, facial pain, and post-nasal drip overlap with Piedmont allergy season — and they are not always the same pattern. From a TCM view, Damp and Heat can lodge in the nasal cavities, often with Spleen weakness from irregular or inflammatory eating, or with lingering exterior Wind after a cold. Treatment focuses on opening the nose, transforming Damp, and supporting Lung and Spleen — not a single “sinus point list” copied from a blog.

Susanna Yeung, L.Ac., screens for red flags that belong with ENT or urgent care: high fever, swelling around the eye, severe unilateral face pain with dental origin, or symptoms after a flight with ear barotrauma. Acupuncture and, when appropriate, herbs may ease pressure and reduce recurrence for some patients. This is not a promise to avoid surgery your ENT has already indicated.

Mint Hill’s canopy, Indian Trail greenways, Concord mill HVAC, and Ballantyne office recirculation are different irritant maps — which is why city pages stay specific and this condition page stays about the medicine. Cupping on the upper back is used only when exterior or muscle stagnation is present, not as a facial-cupping trend.

Clinic: 6580 Old Monroe Road Suite A. Free consult to see whether a series fits beside saline, steroids, or immunotherapy you already use.

Frequently asked questions

Is sinusitis the same as allergies?

They overlap and they are not identical. Allergy is reactivity; sinusitis is congestion and inflammation in the cavities. Diagnosis may need both an allergist and an ENT.

Can acupuncture drain my sinuses?

It may help regulation and pressure. It is not a mechanical lavage and not a substitute for indicated imaging or surgery.

Do you needle the face?

Sometimes, with sterile technique. Many protocols also use distal points. You can decline facial needles.

When do I need antibiotics or ENT?

Fever, worsening unilateral pain, eye swelling, or symptoms that do not follow a typical viral course — call your physician or ENT. We do not prescribe antibiotics.
